Yes, you read that correctly. It’s possible a store owes you money! A lot of the major retailers have price adjustment policies that state that if an item you bought drops in price within a certain period of time, then they’ll refund you the difference.

Ever been to the website MissingMoney.com? It helps you find money that is owed to you from old service providers, banks, financial institutions, etc. This search only takes a few seconds and can find a property (aka “missing money”) that belongs to you that you never knew about.

Apparently, 1 in 10 people in the USA has unclaimed money they don’t know about. Head over to MissingMoney.com and search your name to see if you’re one of them.

You can also search for your family members, friends, and neighbors to see if they have unclaimed money. When you find the money for other people, they might want to share some of it with you!

40. Get Paid to Walk

Gigwalk is an App that will pay you to walk around and perform small tasks like taking photos of shop displays or picking up local restaurant menus. You can work when and where you want to—you can even start making money today!

First, download the Gigwalk app from Apple iTunes or the Google Play store and register for a free account. Link your PayPal account to verify your payment preferences, then start browsing the “gigs” available in your area. You can choose tasks that will last just a few minutes, or even a few hours depending on how much time you have and how much money you’d like to make.

41. Gardening or Yard Work

Are you good with your hands and don’t mind some good old-fashioned manual labor? Consider doing some basic gardening or yard work for folks in your neighborhood. In the winter, this could include shoveling snow or salting walkways.

You can advertise yard services on Craigslist or NextDoor, but many people still appreciate hand flyers or even door knocking. A friend of mine likes to walk around his neighborhood and look for messy, unkept yards. He then knocks on the door and offers to clean up the yard for a small fee. You’d be surprised how many neighbors will pay you a quick $20 to rake leaves, cut back trees, or clear overgrown bushes.

You can also take advantage of your green thumb and get plants started for customers. Grab a packet of seeds for $2, grow them for a couple of months, and resell them each on Craigslist or Nextdoor for at least twice what you spent on the entire packet of seeds. And if you use organic methods, note that as well, as many consumers would rather pay for organic veggies grown by a local grower (and sometimes at a premium).

Depending on your level of knowledge and expertise, you can also charge a premium for manual yard work.

42. Ask for a Raise

People spend a lot of time searching for ways to make money fast with side jobs or new ventures. But one of the quickest ways to get paid more is to ask for a raise.

Especially in today’s job climate, with inflation at all-time highs, right now is a great time to ask for more money.

When you need money FAST, it can be tempting to borrow money from questionable lenders or earn cash in illegal ways. But more often than not, this leads people into an even worse situation than where they started.

Here are a few methods you should definitely AVOID for fast money:

• Illegal Activities: With so many legitimate ways to earn fast money, why resort to crime!? The penalties and risks are not worth the money, no matter how easy it seems.
• Payday Lenders: Payday loans are short-term, unsecured loans that are easy to qualify for and give you quick cash. But the downside is the interest on these loans can be upwards of 400% APR! No matter how bad your need is for fast money, avoid borrowing at high-interest rates or you may be caught in an uncontrollable debt cycle.
• Credit Card Cash Advance: Some credit cards offer cash advances, allowing you to take out money at an ATM with your credit card. But these also have exorbitant fees and high-interest costs.

All in all, borrowing money is not a sustainable way to generate quick cash. Instead, focus on earning money using the skills and resources you already have available to you.

As the saying goes: a dollar saved is better than a dollar earned. If you can spend less money and save more as a result, you might find the extra room in your budget you need.
